Born on June 19th, 1974 in Thessaloniki, Greece, Christos Tsintsaris is a postmodernist oil painter whose work articulates an inner need to bridge juxtaposing cultural influences into one universally coherent visual fusion. While his style is refined and meticulously crafted, his subject is solely executed in contemporary terms. His work expresses with surreal undertones, an amalgam of popular culture symbols, religious references, animals and an emphasis on the female figure. His paintings appear to blend in sexual connotations within a naïve backdrop, yet his characters allude to more classical representations of beauty as to confront the viewer and accentuate the importance of incorporating old values into a fast paced –often erratic- world of change. Christos’s work can be found in the Permanent Collection of Thessaloniki’s Municipal Museum and in various private collections around the world.
